A Brief History of Tiffany Lamp Shades

In this article, we are going to discuss a brief history of Tiffany Lamp Shades as well as the company that created them.

The majority of people are known to attribute the popular style of stained glass artwork that is found in windows, lamps, doors, panels and several other items to Louis Comfort Tiffany, a man that lived between eighteen forty eight and nineteen thirty three. Not only was he an American designer and artist who name was synonymous with the Art Nouveau era, he was an interior decorator and painter.

He also promoted and used stained glass constructions copper foil method that is very popular today. Louis Comfort Tiffany has been credited widely for the popularity that surrounds this particular method and it also carries his name. The company, that he owned, created windows, lamps, doors, metalwork, jewelry, ceramics, and blown glass mosaics. In eighteen eighty five, he founded this company but now, it no longer exists.

Charles Lewis Tiffany, his father, had previously begun a jewelry store that was well known, Tiffany & Co, in eighteen thirty seven. To many, it may have been very surprising, however stained glass artwork is known to have a much longer history that is relatively unknown.

It has been a very common practice for a long time to match the slag glass lamp shades, as well as the Tiffany lamp shades and a variety of other lamp bases that weren't original. One of the other common practices is to place a shade that is unsigned right on the base of the signed Tiffany Lamp and then pass the whole entire lamp off as being a Tiffany. Several, if not the majority of the lamps and their shades are commonly referred to as Tiffany lamps mainly because their style is a lot similar to that of the original Tiffany Lamp.

There are several experts that will agree that most of the lamps that were called Tiffany weren't actually created by Tiffany. This is going to continue to be an issue that carries on, which all of the buyers and sellers should be made aware of. The collectors that are very knowledgeable are already more than aware of this issue.

There are also several lamps that are actually signed but there not authentic. If you are interested in learning more about the Tiffany lamp and the Tiffany lamp shades, there is plenty of information on the internet that you can take a look at. It is very important when you are considering making a purchase that you are able to tell the distinct difference between the fake tiffany lamp shades and the original authentic ones. This could save you from spending a lot of money that you wouldn't have otherwise spent.
